Ganderbal, Aug 20 (KNO): Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) A. Ravinder Nath Wednesday said that the varsity is expecting the fund grants from Government of India in a month for the construction of buildings, automation and innovation. In an interview with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the VC when asked about the overall development of the campus said, “This University was established in the year 2009. It took a bit of time to get the university in the development stage. When I took charge as VC of the CUK, I sought details of the issues and the obstacles to overcome it.” “After getting the feedback, we submitted a DPR to the Government of India (GoI) and the authorities accordingly started acting and resolving the issues submitted in a proposal in a phased manner,” Nath said. He also said that “In a month, we are expecting the fund grants that will be immediately utilized in constructing buildings, automation, innovation and construction management.” Nath further said that in Jammu division, the construction work of buildings has been going on for the past 24 months “But in Kashmir division, I wanted to see the development of CUK going at the rapid pace so that it could also be counted among the premier educational institutions in the country.” The VC said that with this, there will be diversity and ultimately the intellectualism and the intellectual property will make-up. “Since we have a huge scope of tourism in Kashmir, we are focusing more on bio-tech and tourism related courses.” “As of now we are reorienting the courses and the curriculum taught in the CUK in accordance with the NEP-2020. As regards the academic reforms, we have brought the three important things including the global trend of syllabus, national needs and the regional gap difference,” Nath said. He added that “There are three other important things we are bringing in the programs including the addressal of societal needs, market demands and character building of the students so that knowledge, competency and skills are developed among the students. We are also teaching them attitude and values. Besides, we are giving students an education of global citizenship and socially responsible citizenship.” “We are bringing holistic approach in education in curricular, co-curricular and extra-extracurricular,” Nath said—(KNO)
